Qatari Nakilat orders two LNG carriers

Qatari state-owned shipping company Nakilat has inked agreements with Korea's Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries (HSHI) for the construction of two LNG carriers and four very large LPG/ammonia carriers, as announced on January 9.

The two LNG carriers are designed with a capacity of 174,000 m3 each. Simultaneously, the LPG/ammonia carriers are set to have a cargo capacity of 88,000 m3 each. These vessels are scheduled for delivery between 2026 and 2027.

Upon successful delivery, Nakilat's LNG fleet is expected to reach 71 vessels. Additionally, the LPG fleet will expand to eight vessels with the addition of the four newly commissioned carriers.
