PetroVietnam Gas receives third LNG cargo

PetroVietnam Gas (PV Gas), a unit of state-backed energy company PetroVietnam, on April 30 announced the arrival of its third LNG cargo.

The Hoegh Gandria vessel carrying nearly 60,000 tonnes of LNG from the Bintulu LNG complex in Malaysia delivered the cargo on April 29 at the Thi Vai LNG terminal. The regasified LNG from this cargo will be supplied to Vietnam Electricity (EVN), Power Generation Corporation 3, and industrial customers in the Southeast region, PV Gas said.

Under the terms of a recent contract, PetroVietnam Gas is set to supply regasified LNG to EVN's Phu My 3 thermal power plant during the months of April and May. The second LNG cargo was delivered in mid-April.

The Thi Vai LNG import terminal was commissioned by PV Gas last year. With an initial handling capacity of 1mn tonnes/year, the terminal boasts a 180,000 m3 storage LNG tank, a jetty, and a regasification area. In the second phase, the terminal's capacity will be expanded to 3mn tonnes/year.
