Pavilion Energy Starts European Operations

Pavilion Energy has completed the transaction to acquire Iberdrola’s portfolio of LNG and gas assets and launched its European operations, it said January 9 in a statement. From its new European headquarters in Madrid, Pavilion formally started LNG trading operations and natural gas supplies into the UK and Spain.

Singapore-based Pavilion had announced the deal in June last year. Iberdrola’s portfolio comprises about 4mn metric tons/year of long-term sale and supply LNG contracts. It also includes long-term regasification of some 2mn mt/yr at the Grain LNG terminal (UK), regasification access in Spain and the Spanish-France border pipeline capacity, as well as the time-charter of a newbuild MEGI LNG vessel.

As of January 1, 2020, Jose Simon, formerly the head of global gas at Iberdrola, was appointed managing director of Pavilion Energy for Europe. Simon will oversee the organisation’s European gas trading and global LNG portfolio management and origination business divisions, Pavilion said. Alan Heng was appointed managing director for Asia, in addition to his current role as head of the energy sales & market development division.
