Mitsubishi Power to supply CCGT system for HK Electric's Lamma station unit 13

Japan's Mitsubishi Power has won an order for a combined cycle gas turbine (CCGT) power generation system equipment for Hongkong Electric's proposed Lamma Power Station Unit 13, it said on April 9. This unit, with an output of 380 MW, is slated to commence operations in early 2029.

The order for Unit 13 marks a continuation of Mitsubishi Power's collaboration with Hongkong Electric, following previous orders for Units 10, 11, and 12 since July 2015. The new facility will be constructed on Lamma Island, positioned southwest of Hong Kong Island, adjacent to existing Units 9, 10, 11, and 12.

Among the main equipment of the newly ordered CCGT power generation system, Mitsubishi Power will manufacture and supply its M701F gas turbine, a steam turbine, a heat recovery steam generator, and a Selective Catalytic Reduction System (SCR).

Mitsubishi Generator, headquartered in Hyogo Ward, Kobe City, will manufacture the generator. This entity, formed on April 1, integrates the power-generator systems businesses of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and Mitsubishi Electric Corporation.

Hongkong Electric is the exclusive electricity provider for Hong Kong Island and Lamma Island.
