Mahanagar Gas, Baidyanath LNG to develop LNG retailing outlets in India

Mahanagar Gas (MGL), the state-owned city gas company, has entered into a strategic joint venture with Baidyanath LNG to establish LNG retailing outlets across India, MGL announced on January 12.

The joint venture entity aims to make a significant impact, particularly in the long-haul heavy-duty vehicles segment, with the primary objective of replacing diesel consumption with LNG. In the initial phase, the joint venture company plans to set up six LNG stations in the state of Maharashtra. Subsequently, it has plans to expand its footprint across the nation.

Mahanagar Gas, headquartered in Mumbai, is a key player in the city gas distribution landscape. It currently supplies compressed natural gas (CNG) to vehicles and piped gas to households in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region and surrounding areas.

On the other hand, Baidyanath LNG, a part of Baidyanath group, operates an LNG filling station in the city of Nagpur in Maharashtra.
