Jera to restart Anegasaki gas power unit 6

Japanese utility Jera has decided to resume operations at gas-fired Anegasaki thermal power station unit 6 at Ichihara, which is currently under a long-term planned shutdown, beginning in February 2023, it said on October 21.

The 600 MW unit had been under planned shutdown since April 2021 due to deterioration and a drop in utilisation rate. After talks with the government, Jera has lifted the planned shutdown and will operate it as a measure to address additional power supply capacity for this winter.

In addition, unit 5 is scheduled to resume operations on October 24 to supply auxiliary steam for the restart of unit 6.

Jera said it will move forward to restore the unit from its long-term planned shutdown and will make every effort, in cooperation with related parties, to ensure a stable supply of energy.
