Japan's MOL pens charter deal with Ineos for 2 LNGCs

Japanese shipping company Mitsui O.S.K. Lines (MOL) has entered into a long-term agreement with UK-based Ineos for the charter of two newbuild LNG carriers (LNGCs), it said on June 28.

The vessels, expected to be delivered in 2027 to Ineos Energy Trading, a unit of Ineos, will be built at Hanwha Ocean's Okpo Shipyard in South Korea. They will be equipped with the latest Man Energy Solutions engines, air lubrication systems, and shaft generators to enhance operational efficiencies and environmental considerations.

With a cargo capacity of 174,000 m3 each, the vessels will be used for the import of LNG into Germany from the US. The agreement mark Ineos’ entry into the LNG carrier market.
