Japanese LNG imports dip 11% in January

Japanese LNG imports for January 2024 reached 6.1mn tonnes, marking a 10.5% decrease compared to the same period the previous year, according to provisional data released by Japan's finance ministry on February 21. 

This decline is part of an ongoing trend, with the finance ministry having announced a reduction of 8.1% in Japanese LNG imports for 2023. 

The cost of Japanese LNG imports in January 2024 fell by 28.8% year/year, to 620bn yen (about $4.1bn).
