India's LNG Imports in August Up 5% Yr/yr

India’s LNG imports saw a 5.4% yr/yr growth in August to 2.97bn m3 (2mn metric tons), according to the data published by the Indian oil and gas ministry's Petroleum Planning and Analysis Cell on September 21. Imports were unchanged month on month.

The country’s imports in the first five months of the fiscal year (April 2020-March 2021) were down 5.5% yr/yr at 12.87bn m3, the data showed.

The cost of imports in August was $600mn, down from $800mn in the same month last year. For the April-August period, the import cost was $2.5bn, down from $3.9bn in the same period last year, the data showed.
