    Gunvor to supply LNG to Thailand's Hin Kong Power

Gunvor to supply LNG to Thailand's Hin Kong Power

Gunvor Singapore, a unit of commodity trader Gunvor, has signed a term LNG supply agreement with Thailand's Hin Kong Power Holding Company (HKH), Gunvor announced on September 4.

Under the agreement, Gunvor will supply HKH, a joint venture between Gulf Energy Development Public Company and Ratch Group Public Company, with about 0.5mn tonnes/year of LNG on DES basis. Gunvor did not disclose any additional details about the deal. 

HKH is developing a 1.4 GW gas-fired power plant in Thailand. The LNG supplied by Gunvor will be used to meet the gas demand of the power plant.

Thailand has been opening up its LNG sector which state energy company PTT has dominated. It has awarded LNG import licences to a number of companies, including HKH. Other firms with LNG shipping licences are Egco, B.Grimm, state-run PTT Global LNG, Egat, Gulf Energy Development, and Siam Cement Group.
