GTT to Equip Two Daewoo LNG Carriers

French GTT has received an order from Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering to equip two new LNG carriers, which will be built at DSME's shipyard in Geoje, Korea, on behalf of Maran Gas Maritime, a Greek management company.

The carriers will be equipped with GTT’s NO96 cryogenic membrane containment system, GTT said October 24. Delivery is scheduled for 2019. Maran Gas has a fleet of 20 vessels entirely equipped with membrane tanks.

Earlier this month, GTT also received an order from Samsung Heavy Industries to equip a new LNG carrier with Mark V technology. The vessel will be built at SHI’s shipyard, also on Geoje Island for a European ship-owner. Delivery is scheduled in 2019, GTT said October 11.

Mark V technology offers thermal efficiency by reducing the guaranteed daily boil-off rate to 0.07% of the tank volume.
