GTT, China's CSSC sign cooperation pact

GTT, a French company specialising in membrane containment systems for LNG, has signed a strategic cooperation agreement with China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC), it said on December 7.

The agreement provides for cooperation between GTT and twelve subsidiaries of the CSSC conglomerate, notably in ship design and construction, cryogenic containment technologies for LNG shipping, LNG as fuel and smart shipping solutions.

The two companies aim to develop and market competitive LNG tank solutions with GTT's advanced technologies for various vessel types, including LNG-powered container ships, bulk carriers, oil tankers, and pure car and truck carriers.

The agreement also focuses on optimising the engineering of LNG carriers, particularly large vessels ranging from 175,000 m³ to 270,000 m³. Additionally, the collaboration extends to the latest generation of very large ethane carriers and offshore platforms like floating LNG and floating storage and regasification units (FSRU).

Subsidiaries of CSSC, including Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding Co., Jiangnan Shipyard Co., Dalian Shipbuilding Industry Co., and Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding Co., are authorised to build ships utilising GTT's technologies.
