Greek Pipeline Operator joins Capacity Platform

Greek gas transmission system operator (TSO) Desfa has joined the Prisma capacity trading platform, the German-based entity said September 10. Desfa, which also operates the LNG import terminal in Revithoussa, intends to market its first products in the last quarter of 2020.

"Desfa acts as an important bridge between the Balkans and the rest of southern Europe. By coming together in a single platform under common standards and harmonious procedures, Desfa contributes to the continuous integration of the European gas market," Prisma said, adding the inclusion followed two years of collaboration.

Desfa said it already plays "an important role in the Balkan region energy market and, by joining Prisma it aims to further enhance this role, by linking the Greek and the regional gas markets with liquid markets of the central and west European countries." Desfa is owned by other European TSOs including Snam, Fluxys and Enagas and also the Greek state.
