Gazprom and Moldovan PM Discuss New Gas Contract

Gazprom chairman Alexey Miller has today met with Moldovan Prime Minister Vladimir Filat to discuss the possibility of a new gas contract between the company and the Republic of Moldova.

A new contract would further the current relationship between Gazprom and Moldova, who signed an existing gas contract in 2006. That contract is due to expire this year.

A statement released by Gazprom said that, in addition to the contract discussions, "further discussion would be based on Moldovan proposals regarding Gazprom's participation in the investment projects in the Republic of Moldova."

Gazprom currently holds a 50 percent stake in Moldovan company Moldovagaz. The Moldovan government holds a 35.3 percent stake.
