CNPC Updates on Russian Pipe Gas Imports

China has imported a total of 840mn mof natural gas from Russia via the Power of Siberia pipeline till February 25, Chinese state-owned CNPC said on March 2 in a statement. The pipeline opened on December 2 last year.

The 3,000-km pipeline is expected to pump 38bn m3/yr of gas from eastern Siberian fields to China’s eastern seaboard at full capacity, under a $400bn gas deal signed in 2014. But shipments are expected to take until 2025 to ramp up to full flow, with the pipeline scheduled to export only 4.6bn m3 this year.
