China's Royal Golden Eagle, Beijing Energy order GE gas turbines

GE Vernova's gas power business will supply four GE 6F.03 gas turbines through two separate orders from China's Royal Golden Eagle Group (RGE) and Beijing Energy International Holding Co., GE announced on August 22.

The initial order consists of two units, obtained by RGE's East Asia Power (Yangjiang) Co. for the Yangjiang High-Tech Zone natural gas combined heat and power (CHP) plant. The subsequent order involves the purchase of two units by Beijing Energy International Holding Co. for the Yangjiang Yangxi natural gas CHP project. Upon their projected completion in early 2025, these four gas turbines will collectively contribute 480 MW of electricity.

RGE, with interests spanning paper, palm oil, viscose, property, asset management, construction, and power generation, is currently developing an LNG receiving terminal in Yangjiang, designed to accommodate up to 2.8mn tonnes/year of LNG. The forthcoming power plant from RGE is strategically positioned to support the energy requirements of the Yangjiang High-Tech Zone natural gas business hub.

Commercial operations of the first unit are scheduled for December 2024, followed by the second unit in the first quarter of 2025. The agreement with GE Vernova encompasses a service component, ensuring reliable power plant operation for the ensuing 15 years.

For Beijing Energy International Holding Co., the recently procured cogeneration plant is anticipated to deliver up to 240 MW of electricity, playing a pivotal role in hastening the development of the Zhongshan Torch (Yangxi) Industrial Transfer Park in Yangjiang. In tandem with this project, BJEI is actively involved in establishing a heating pipe network spanning approximately 10 km, further bolstering the area's infrastructure.
