Baker Hughes wins Rio Grande LNG compressor order

Energy technology company Baker Hughes said July 6 it had been awarded an order from Bechtel Energy to supply three main refrigerant compressors (MRCs) for NextDecade’s Rio Grande LNG project in Texas.

The order, which will be booked in Q2 2023, consists of six Frame 7 gas turbines paired with 18 centrifugal compressors across the first three trains of the Rio Grande LNG project. Together, the three MRCs provide nameplate capacity of about 17.6mn tonnes/year.

Packaging of the turbine and compressor trains, assembly of the compressors and testing of the trains will take place at Baker Hughes’ facilities in Italy.
