Aussie east cost LNG exports up 18% in March

Australia's LNG exports from the east coast were 2.07mn tonnes in March, up 18.2% year/year, according to data released by Gladstone Port Corp. on April 6.

China led the surge in imports, receiving 1.45mn tonnes of Australian LNG last month, a significant jump from the previous year's 974,903 tonnes. South Korea imported 176,594 tonnes, down from 226,041 tonnes last year. Malaysia imported 245,757 tonnes of LNG versus 248,238 tonnes last year.

The three projects responsible for these LNG exports from the Australian east coast are Origin-operated Australia Pacific LNG, Santos's Gladstone LNG, and Shell's Queensland Curtis LNG.

In 2023, the three projects exported 22.9mn tonnes of LNG, up 1.14% year/year.
