Aussie east coast LNG exports up 5% in April

Australia's LNG exports from the east coast were 1.98mn tonnes in April, up 4.8% year/year, according to data released by Gladstone Port Corp. on May 6.

China was the leading importer, receiving 1.32mn tonnes of Australian LNG last month, a jump from the previous year's 1.1mn tonnes. South Korea imported 239,743 tonnes, down from 278,549 tonnes last year. Malaysia imported 122,555 tonnes of LNG versus 119,480 tonnes last year. 

The three projects responsible for these LNG exports from the Australian east coast are Origin-operated Australia Pacific LNG, Santos's Gladstone LNG, and Shell's Queensland Curtis LNG.

In 2023, the three projects exported 22.9mn tonnes of LNG, up 1.14% year/year.
