Asyad Shipping inks charter deal with Oman LNG for two LNGCs

Asyad Shipping, an Omani shipping company, has signed a long-term charter agreement with LNG producer Oman LNG for two 5th-generation LNG carriers (LNGCs) with a capacity of 174,000 m3.

The agreement, revealed through a post on X (formerly known as Twitter) on December 21, affirms Asyad's commitment to enhancing local added value by collaborating with Omani production and export entities, providing comprehensive logistics solutions, the company said.

Oman LNG is 51% owned by the Omani government. Shell holds a 30% stake, while TotalEnergies has a 5.54% share. Korea LNG owns 5%, and Japan's Mitsubishi Corporation and Mitsui & Co each hold 2.77%. Additionally, Thailand's PTTEP has a 2% stake, and Itochu Corporation holds 0.92%, according to information available on Oman LNG's website.

Oman LNG recently signed agreements to extend supplies to shareholders including Shell and TotalEnergies for up to 10 years beyond 2024.
