Yamal LNG Ships First Cargo to Cnooc

Russian independent Novatek shipped its first cargo of LNG from Yamal LNG to the China National Offshore Oil Corporation, it said November 13. The LNG cargo was delivered to Fujian via the Northern Sea Route (NSR) by an Arc7 ice-class LNG carrier in 20 days, completing the NSR part of the journey in 7.5 days.

Novatek CEO Leonid Mikhelson said the shipment was its first cargo eastwards in November, "essentially towards the end of the seasonal navigation period. The LNG cargo required no ice-breaking support and was shipped to its final destination in a very short period of time at a commercially viable speed, once again confirming the effectiveness of our logistical model allowing for competitive LNG deliveries to the key consuming markets of the Asian-Pacific Region.”
