Yamal LNG Reaches 20mn Mt Milestone

Russia’s Yamal LNG export terminal has shipped 20mn mt of LNG since its launch in December 2017, the project’s operating company reported on August 16.

The plant on Russia’s Arctic shore reached the production milestone as the Vladimir Voronin Arc7 ice-class tanker was loading the project’s 273rd cargo, Yamal LNG said. Vladimir Voronin is the 12th purpose-built vessel to serve at the terminal.

Yamal LNG’s shareholders comprise Russian operator Novatek with a 50.1% stake, France’s Total with 20% and China’s CNPC and Silk Road Fund with 20% and 9.9% respectively. The plant launched its third 5.5mn mt/yr liquefaction train in November last year, and construction is underway on a fourth 900,000 mt/yr unit.
