Work on Cnooc's 10th Terminal Moves Forward

State-owned Cnooc Gas and Power March 27 said the design of the 3mn mt/yr Zhangzhou LNG import terminal has received final approval for the local authorities.

Cnooc got preliminary design and budgetary approval in May last year. This will be company’s second terminal in Fujian province and 10th in China.

The Zhangzhou LNG terminal1 will have two storage facilities of 160,000m3 each at Zhangzhou, Fujian province. The project will be constructed in two phases with investment of yuan 6.2bn ($970mn) and is expected to be ready by 2021.

The terminal will increase gas supply in Fujian province and other regions in southern China such as Guangdong, Guangxi, Zhejiang and Jiangxi, Cnooc Gas and Power said.

Cnooc Gas and Power, a unit of Cnooc, operates nine LNG import terminals at Tianjin, Shanghai, Ningbo, Putian, Yuedong, Dapeng, Zhuhai, Hainan and Shenzhen - most of which are part-owned by others.
