Woodside to Supply LNG to Chubu

Woodside has signed a sales and purchase agreement (SPA) with Japan’s Chubu Electric for the supply of up to approximately 1.5 million tonnes of liquefied natural gas (LNG) over a three year period commencing in April 2014.

LNG delivered to Chubu Electric under the SPA will primarily be sourced from previously uncommitted volumes from Woodside-operated Pluto LNG, Woodside said in a statement.

Pluto LNG is underpinned by 15-year sales agreements with Kansai Electric and Tokyo Gas.

Onshore infrastructure comprises a single LNG processing train with a forecast production capacity of 4.3 million tonnes a year.

“The agreement demonstrates the importance of Pluto LNG volumes in meeting growing regional demand for natural gas and also Woodside’s increasingly diverse LNG purchasing, sales and shipping arrangements,” Woodside CEO, Peter Coleman said.
