Woodfibre Names David Keane President

Woodfibre LNG said August 21 it has named David Keane, former CEO of the BC LNG Alliance, as its president, bringing more than 35 years of international energy business experience to lead the construction and operation of Woodfibre’s proposed 2.1mn metric tons/year LNG export terminal at Squamish, north of Vancouver.

“Woodfibre LNG’s goal is to build one of the cleanest liquefied natural gas facilities in the world,” said Ratnesh Bedi, president of Pacific Oil & Gas Limited, Woodfibre LNG’s parent company. “Mr Keane’s unique understanding of what it takes to establish an LNG export industry in Canada, along with his international energy industry experience, will help make this goal a reality.”

Woodfibre expects to award an engineering, procurement and construction contract this fall, and to begin construction late this year or early in 2019. With Keane's appointment, Byng Giraud, country manager for Woodfibre LNG in Canada and its vice president, corporate affairs, will remain in his position.

“The Woodfibre LNG project is on track to be one of the first LNG processing and export terminals in Canada,” Keane said. “I welcome this opportunity to be directly involved in building an LNG facility, and to help create all of the jobs, training and other economic opportunities that come with this project.”

Pacific Oil & Gas is part of the Singapore-based RGE Group of companies, and holds major investments throughout the global energy value chain, including LNG regasification terminals, power plants and gas transmission networks.
