Wood to renovate Gassco gas receiving facilities

UK engineering group Wood has secured an engineering procurement and construction (EPC) contract from Norwegian gas systems operator Gassco to renovate gas receiving facilities across northwest Europe, the latter company reported on June 8.

The work will take place at receiving terminals in Easington in the UK, Zeebrugge in Belgium, Dunkerque in France and Dornum and Emden in Germany, Gassco said. Combined, these facilities receive around 100bn m3/year of Norwegian gas bound for European markets.

Gassco said Wood was a "good match" for the contract given it has a European presence in close proximity to the terminals, and has past experience working at Gassco terminals. Wood said the award would further increase its geographical and portfolio diversification.
