WesternGeco, PGS Awarded Contract for Seismic Acquisition in Norway

WesternGeco and PGS have been awarded contracts for seismic acquisition on a 13,700 square kilometres area in the southeastern Barents Sea.

‘The surveys will commence in April and continue throughout the second and third quarter this year, with subsequent processing of data until the summer of 2015,’ reads a note released on Tuesday.

The programme is designed to gain data for the 23rd licensing round on the NCS.

Another 16 companies recently subscribed to the joint seismic acquisition program in the Barents Sea, joining 17 early participants. Among the new entries there are companies like E.ON, ExxonMobil, OMV, RWE Dea and TotalStatoil is the operator of the project.
