Citifm Online: VRA to soon receive gas from Ghana Gas

The Ghana Gas Company has announced it is working to get enough volumes of gas for the Volta River Authority (VRA) from the Atuabo Gas Plant. A statement signed by the company’s board chairman, Dr Kwesi Botchwey indicated that his outfit will soon pump out about 30 million standard cubic feet of gas to the VRA for energy production.

“Following the receipt of the appropriate permits from the regulatory agencies, Ghana Gas is targeting a test ramp-up of up to 30 Million standard cubic feet per day (30MMSCF) of specification quality lean gas which should allow VRA to produce up to 100 MW of power on a trial basis,” the statement said.

Dr. Botchwey added that the next objective of the commissioning process of the Atuabo Gas Processing plant is to “garner enough volumes of gas to be able to introduce gas from the Ghana Gas TRMS to the VRA’s tie-in valve.”
