Ventia wins maintenance contract with Chevron

Australia-based contractor Ventia has been awarded a long-term maintenance contract by Chevron for works on the Gorgon and Wheatstone natural gas facilities in Western Australia (WA), it said on July 14.

The master contract term is for 10 years and Ventia expects annual revenue of approximately A$100mn ($74.7mn). Ventia will deliver front-line and campaign maintenance, brownfield execution scopes and turnaround events at Chevron-operated natural gas facilities in WA.

The contract will support maintenance works at the facilities, boosting the local economy and providing around 700 local jobs to WA’s essential resources sector, the company said. Works under the scope of the contract are expected to commence in Q3 of 2021, Venita added.

Australia’s peak oil and gas body Appea on July 15 said the contract is another example of the oil and gas industry supporting local workers and driving the state’s economy.

“Gas means local jobs, gas means economic prosperity for WA and gas means lower emissions,” Appea Western Australian director Claire Wilkinson said. “These 700 jobs are on top of the 80,000 direct and indirect jobs – and hundreds of thousands of Australian jobs that rely on the reliable, affordable and sustainable supply of oil and gas.”
