Vallourec, a provider of tubular solutions, has signed a contract with TotalEnergies for the supply of casing and tubing and associated accessories for the first phase of the Gas Growth Integrated Project (GGIP) in Iraq, it said on January 16.

Under the terms of the contract, Vallourec is set to deliver 15,000 tonnes of various tubes and connections for the initial thirty wells of the GGIP. The tubes and connections will be sourced from Vallourec's state-of-the-art plants in Brazil and Europe. The deliveries are expected to start in 2024.

GGIP involves investing approximately $10bn to design and construct facilities for recovering significant volumes of flared gas throughout the Basra region and supplying such recovered gas to power stations, as well as a seawater treatment and distribution system to supply water for injection into oil reservoirs for pressure maintenance purposes.

The GGIP consortium is composed of Basra Oil Company (30%), TotalEnergies (operator - 45%), and QatarEnergy (25%).
