US Apache Appoints ex-BP VP to Board

US Apache Corp has appointed BP's former chief transition offer Lamar McKay to its board of directors, it said February 10. McKay, an upstream executive, retired December 2020 after a little ove a year in that role, following more than three years as deputy CEO to Bob Dudley from February 2016.

McKay had also been chairman and president of BP America. Dudley, like McKay, joined BP when the UK major bought the US company Amoco in the late 1990s as part of John Browne's takeover spree.

“We are delighted to welcome Lamar to the Apache board. A respected leader in the industry, he brings with him 40 years of international natural gas and oil experience. Lamar will be a tremendous asset, and we look forward to his expertise as Apache continues to responsibly help meet the world’s energy needs,” said Apache’s nonexecutive board chairman John Lowe.

Apache has operations in the US, Egypt, the UK and exploration activities offshore Suriname, where it is working with French company Total on an offshore oil block.
