Ukraine's Second Upstream Round Draws Two

Ukraine's second online licensing round took place May 2 and six of the seven hydrocarbons blocks were purchased online by national producer Ukrgazvydobyvannya (UGV). A small private Ukrainian firm, Yedyna Oil & Gas, bagged the seventh, which was in hte west of the country, said the Association of Gas Producers of Ukraine (AGPU). It said the bidding almost doubled the price, with $3.4mn payable.

The online trade was organised by private platform UEEX under the rules and criteria of public tendering platform Prozorro ['Transparency'].

In the first licensing round March 6, three out of ten blocks were awarded, yielding proceeds over $5.2mn. Then there were different private companies: US-owned Burisma Group and local DTEK Oil & Gas, as well as state UGV.
