Ukraine Turns Spotlight on Crimea

Ukraine turned the spotlight on Crimea, with Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk saying Kiev would suspend trade with the peninsula in 30 days. A few hours later, Naftogaz wrote it would push its requests through international judicial institutions.

The Ukrainian company wants to regain ‘control of assets lost through the Russian occupation of Crimea’, seeking compensation for ‘all incurred losses.’

‘According to data confirmed by international auditors, Naftogaz’ loss from discontinued operations in Crimea, only in 2014, amounted to 13.8 billion USD. In addition, the audited value of the lost assets in Crimea is 15.7 billion USD’ the company wrote on Wednesday.

As said, also the Government intervened in the issue.

‘With its decision the Ukrainian Government will prohibit the supply of works, goods and services under all customs procedures from the temporarily occupied territory to other territory of Ukraine and/or from other territory of Ukraine to the temporarily occupied territory of Ukraine’ the government wrote on Wednesday.
