Ukraine Claws Back More from Russian Gazprom

Naftogaz has withheld an overpayment of $3.8mn from Russian gas exporter Gazprom for October transit services, it said November 26. The money will go towards the repayment of Gazprom’s debt to Naftogaz under the Stockholm arbitration tribunal's transit award of 28 February 2018.

Earlier, Naftogaz withheld $18.3mn in overpayments for transit services rendered in August and September. The amount withheld in the past three months thus totals $22mn, in addition to $2.1bn already set off by the tribunal against Naftogaz’s debt for gas supplied in 2014-2015. Gazprom still owes Naftogaz $2.7bn pursuant to the arbitration award, the latter said.
