Osceola Hydrocarbons Limited, to be renamed Bluebird Energy, is planning a listing on London's AIM exchange this spring.

Already holding a portfolio of projects in the USA, the company hopes to raise funds to find untapped shale gas in Britain and Europe.

Chairman David Bramhill declined to reveal the location, adding: “We want to go under the radar screen. The big firms will be in these areas eventually but they are not there yet.”

“It’s like the jam in a Victoria Sponge,” Bramhill explains. “The shale runs through the rock for miles and miles. There are very good supplies in Europe.”

Cuadrilla Resources has been leading the development of shale gas in the UK with its drilling activities near Blackpool.
