UK's Cuadrilla Starts Community Consultations for Fracking in Fylde

UK's Cuadrilla Resources met more than 220 people at Elswick Village Hall and at Pipers Height Cavan Park to discuss its proposed new exploration sites in the Fylde.

“I was pleased to see so many local residents take the opportunity to come to these events. There will be many more chances for people to contribute to the process, and I hope that people will take those chances and get involved,” Francis Egan, Cuadrilla’s chief executive, commented in a note released on Wednesday

The company intends to apply for planning permissions to hydraulically fracture and test the flow of gas from up to four wells at two new sites: one near Roseacre, and one near Little Plumpton.

“We are keen to make sure that feedback from local people is considered as part of the comprehensive environmental impact assessments we are preparing for the new exploration sites. These events were invaluable in helping us ensure that we can do that,” Des Correia, Arup’s project director, said.

The two companies started their public engagement in the Fylde in November to avoid the hurdles met in Balcombe.
