UK Clears Pickerill Decom Plan

London-based Perenco has had its decommissioning plan for the Pickerill gas field approved, the UK’s Oil and Gas Authority (OGA) reported on September 11.

Pickerill in the southern North Sea entered production in 1992 and is equipped with unmanned two platforms. Perenco, its operator since 2003, shut down operations last year.

The project’s two platforms are connected by two gas pipelines to the Theddlethorpe gas terminal. Perenco’s plan is to remove topsides and jackets using a heavy lift vessel, although other options have been considered. The infrastructure will be towed to shore for recycling or disposal.
