UAE Plans to Contruct LNG terminal on East Coast

Mubadala Development Company is planning to build a LNG terminal on the eastern coast in order to bypassing the strategically sensitive Strait of Hormuz.

The company expects the facility to receive its first supplies in two to three years, Associated Press reported.

Although UAE is a major oil exporter, it has to rely on imports to meet its natural gas demand.

Iran has, in recent months, repeatedly threatened to shut the Strait of Hormuz.
