Turkish Foreign Minister Meets Russia Counterpart to Discuss Ties, Syria

Feridun Sinirlioğlu, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkey, is paying a working visit to Russia. The meeting with Russian Minister Sergei Lavrov, which takes place on Wednesday and Thursday in Sochi, is meant to discuss bilateral ties and regional issues.

‘Foreign Minister H.E. Feridun H.Sinirlioğlu and his Russian counterpart will discuss bilateral relations including high level visits in the upcoming period, and they will exchange views on the regional and international issues, particularly Syria, which are on the agenda of both countries’ reads a note released by the Turkish government on Tuesday

This comes in a moment when several Turkish reports are saying that Turkey cannot be held responsible for the delays registered by Turkish Stream.

‘The real reason for the postponement of Turkish Stream is not the Turkish political crisis but the crisis Russia is causing in the entire region. A country that uses its natural resources as a weapon against its neighbors cannot be counted as a credible and respected partner’ Hurriyet Daily News wrote on Wednesday.

Gazprom said on Monday that the delays in the 63 bcm pipeline connecting Russia with Turkey have to do with political uncertainties in Turkey.
