Triple Energy Finds Gas at China Coal Methane Well

Triple Energy Limited has encountered elevated gas levels at the first well of its coal mine methane project in Heilongjiang Province in China.

While initial results suggest that gas is present in this seam, permeability of the reservoir appears to be less than initially prognosed, the company said. Detailed analysis is required to understand the significance of this result together with wireline data that will be acquired once the well has reached total depth.

Planned total depth for the well is approximately 900 meters and it is expected to intersect numerous coal seams.

Triple has 80% profit interest in, Heilongjiang Aolong Energy, and the other shareholder as to 20% is Heilongjiang LongMay Coal Mining Group Joint-Stock Company, which is one of the largest coal mining companies in the PRC, and the biggest provincially-owned state-owned enterprise in Heilongjiang province.
