Trelleborg Signs $50-60 Million Contract for Drill Riser Buoyancy in US

Sweden-based Trelleborg Offshore & Construction has been awarded a contract to supply drill riser buoyancy modules to ‘one of the major leading drilling companies in the world.’

“We expect this type of large and complex solutions – requiring in-depth engineering and application know-how – to become more prevalent, going forward,” commented Fredrik Meuller, President of the Trelleborg Offshore & Construction business area.

The order, which is the largest to date for the offshore operation of Trelleborg, is in the range of $50-60 million ‘depending on final project scope.’

“This is a clear competitive advantage that is becoming more important within the subsea buoyancy markets as it grows and gets more complex and demanding,” explained Meuller in a note released on Monday.

The drill riser buoyancy modules will be produced at Trelleborg’s facilities in Houston, Texas (US).

According to the company, Trelleborg has invested significantly in the oil and gas segment, expanding its original business. Trelleborg is a transnational provider of engineered polymer solutions.
