Transerv's Warro Tight Gas Field Potential Is Huge

Transerv Energy in a statement on its website said that its Warro tight gas field in the Perth Basin, Western Australia could hold multi trillion cubic feet of gas and potentially flow at high rates.

The Warro-4 well succeeded in confirming the existence of a substantial gas column and generated a gas  flow from the tight sand reservoir following fracture stimulation.  Similar results were achieved with the Warro-3 well, providing evidence that the field contains significant amounts of gas and that this can be recovered following fracture stimulation within the reservoir section.

However, both wells also flowed water  at significant rates.  Transerv said that this issue should be overcome and there is a very strong chance that the Warro field would be economic to develop.

The Warro field lies 200km north of Perth in the Perth Basin and is one of the largest undeveloped onshore gas fields in Australia.

Transerv has a 35 per cent stake in Warro and is the project operator. Alcoa is earning the remaining 65 per cent stake under a farm-in agreement, in which Alcoa will spend up to $100 million on exploration and development at Warro.
