Transco Files for Southeastern Trail Expansion Project

Williams Partners said April 12 its Transco pipeline unit has applied to the US Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (Ferc) for authorisation to build its Southeastern Trail Expansion project.

Southeastern Trail would add more than 296mn ft3/day of capacity to the 16,400 km Transco system, primarily to meet demand in expanding markets in the mid-Atlantic and Southeastern US by adding new domestic supply sources and enhancing system reliability. It would be completed in time for the 2020/2021 winter heating season.

Williams Partners said it has executed precedent agreements with utilities and local distribution companies in Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia for all of the firm transportation service under the project, which carries an estimated capital cost of $405mn.

“Southeastern Trail is a critical project that will work to bring key supplies from interconnects in the mid-Atlantic region to growing demand centres in the Southeastern US,” said Micheal Dunn, CEO of Williams Partners’ general partner. “This vital project, along with additional expansion opportunities under development, will link low-cost supply to key customers in high-growth markets and continues the expansion of southbound capacity on the Transco pipeline system.”
