TotalEnergies restarts gas production at the Tyra offshore hub

TotalEnergies on March 22 announced the resumption of production from the Tyra hub in the Danish North Sea, following the completion of its redevelopment project.

At peak production, the Tyra hub is expected to produce 5.7mn m3/day of gas and 22,000 barrels of condensate/day. TotalEnergies operates the Tyra field on behalf of the Danish Underground consortium, a partnership comprising TotalEnergies (43.2%), BlueNord (36.8%), and Nordsofonden (20%).

Discovered in 1968 by Maersk Oil, the Tyra field is located 225 kilometers west of the coast of Esbjerg. Gas production was suspended in September 2019 to facilitate the redevelopment project, which involved decommissioning the previous Tyra facilities and installing eight new platform topsides, two jackets, and six bridges.

Gas from the Tyra hub is transported to Europe through two export pipelines to Nybro in Denmark and Den Helder in the Netherlands.
