Total Selects New Gas & Power Head

Stephane Michel has been appointed the new president of gas, renewables and power at France's Total, the company reported on March 9, following the retirement of Philippe Sauquet.

Michel previously served as Total's senior vice president for upstream operations in north Africa and the Middle East from January 2014. He was succeeded by Laurent Vivier in this position in January this year. Michel took on his new role on March 1, while also becoming a member of Total's executive committee.

"The gas, renewables & power segment has a key role to play in the growth, value creation and transformation of Total into a broad energy company. We are very pleased to welcome Stephane Michel to the executive committee,” Total CEO Patrick Pouyanne said. “I would also like to thank very warmly Philippe Sauquet for his 30 years at Total, and the major role he has played since 2016 in the creation and sustained development of Total’s gas, renewables & power segment.”
