Tokyo Gas 1Q Gas Sales Up 3%

Japanese utility Tokyo Gas sold 3.71bn m³ of gas during the April-June quarter (1QFY2017), up 3% on year, the company said July 28.

Sales to the residential sector were up 4.1% during the quarter to 861mn m³ while business sector volumes rose little over 2% to 590mn m³. Sales to the industrial sector rose 7.7% to reach 1.82bn m³.

Volume for wholesale supply to other gas companies was 437mn m³, down almost 14% on year.

For the full financial year that is ending March 31, 2018, Tokyo Gas expects to sell 15.32bn m3 of gas, down 2.5% on year.

Tokyo Gas is the primary provider of natural gas to the main cities of Tokyo, Kanagawa, Saitama, Chiba, Ibaraki, Tochigi, Gunma, Yamanashi, and Nagano. It is the largest natural gas utility in Japan.
