Toho Gas Signs Deal to Buy LNG from U.S. Cameron Project

Toho Gas on Thursday announced it entered into an agreement with Mitsui & Co. for purchase of LNG produced at the U.S. Cameron Project.

In accordance with the agreement, Toho will annually purchase approximately 300,000 tons of LNG from the Mitsui for 20 years from the start of production under the project.

The 12 million tons per annum project is being developed by Sempra Energy. Production is expected to commence in the latter half of 2017.

Toho says that procuring LNG from the U.S., in addition to the current five supplier countries (Indonesia, Australia, Malaysia, Qatar and Russia), will help improve LNG supply stability.

Mitsui & Co., Ltd will acquire a 16.6% equity interest through investment subsidiary in U.S.
