The EU Strategy for LNG and Gas Storage - Event - 2nd March 2016, Brussels

The European Commission has developed a regulation to reinforce security of supply, and one pillar of that is LNG and storage.

Now that the European Union is facing a period of low prices and abundant LNG supplies, this could be a good time to develop the infrastructure to import gas and to store it ready for use when it is needed.

With the rise of renewables in power generation, quick access to flexibility, such as storage, at affordable prices, will be essential.

But there are barriers, some natural, such as geology; and some artificial.

Discussing these and related topics are European Commissioner for the Energy Union Maroš Šefčovič and MEP Jerzy Buzek.
