Thai TTCL Signs Myanmar PPA

Bangkok-listed TTCL Public Co has signed a power purchase agreement with Myanmar state-run Electric Power Generation Enterprise for the 388-MW gas to power project in Yangon region, the company said on January 20.

The Ahlone power plant is expected to cost $685mn and will be attached to a 28-km power line, a 25-km gas pipeline and LNG receiving terminal. The electricity generated will be supplied to Myanmar’s national grid.

TTCL received the notice to proceed with the project from the ministry of electricity and energy in January 2018. TTCL is developing the project along with Japan’s Sojitz Corp, Shikoku Electric Power Co, and Inpex Corp. It will be Myanmar's first gas-to-power plant and is due online in 2024.
