Thailand's Nong Fab to be Ready by 2022

Thai PTT LNG’s Nong Fab LNG terminal will be ready by 2022, state-owned PTT, the parent company of PTT LNG, said August 7.

In June, Italian contractor Saipem, in joint venture with Taipei-based CTCI Corporation, was awarded a new engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning (EPCC) contract by PTT LNG.  Works include the engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning of the Nong Fab LNG terminal for the receipt, storage and regasification of LNG. Earlier this year, Tokyo Gas won the project management consultancy contract for the 7.5 million metric ton/yr Nong Fab terminal.

With local gas supplies dwindling and only limited piped gas exports from Myanmar, Thailand's economy is increasingly relying in imported LNG to meet domestic gas demand. In recent years the southeast Asian nation has signed multiple LNG deals.

Thailand already has one operational import terminal, Map Ta Phut, which PTT is expanding from its current 10mn mt/yr capacity to 11.5mn mt/yr.
